Alsalam Alaykum, I was wondering, is being an unofficial club prevents us from inviting someone. I mean we can ASK an embassy or something (A half sleepy kabuto koji fan speech ;D). But how are we going to invit/prepare accomodation/etc for the guest can the IEEE or IGDA give us a help (Stiillll SLEEEEEEEPY ) ??

I'll have to say no for the club project because:
1) its a small project to begin with, with my basic knowlage I can make one in ... 3 weeks, let alone that contest deadline is 5 months away from ... April 9.
2) this is the perfect chanse to learn how to make a game with all of its subsystems (game logic, game AI, games graphics, games sound, games user control). the same consept of each system can be applied to real desktop games in java or C# and C++ for that matter.
3) if the prizes going to be anything other than cash, it will be vary hard to divide the winning (I'll be so proud if any member of our club wins! ^^ )
4) most of the work will happen during the summer vacation, so cooardanating anything more than 3 people will be tough.
I have no problrm if anyone one would like to team up, even if the whole club will team up.
I for one cant, why? my dream job is to work for a game company, and they dont care about your grades (mine is not good anyway) as much as they care about finished projects. the more finished projects you have, the more chanse you got of beeing hired. I have asked many people working in the industry and they all confirm it. so I need this even if I dont win.
take care Maan Ashgar

Yes, you are correct. Personally, I do not have a nice GPA, but I got the passion to do something. I, too, am giong for a game programmer career (a beginer at start of course!!). I think the club will manage it well.

1. yes we were talking about the samsung contest.
2. there is no links yet, I gave you the unofficial news about the upcoming contest, you'll have to wait for the link once samsung put it.
3. no, the club is not going to concentrate on mobile games. what ever you want to learn and do is your choise. saying that I do recommed people learning mobile games because a) its in Java, so people know it already in collage. b) its vary easy for one person to create a game in it, no need for big teams.
4) so far we have no official sponser, but we also have nothing to need money for. the learning materials are free and so is the computers that are avalibe in every lab! so far the IEEE has shown interest and so did Microsoft, but we need something to show who ever want to sponser us that we are working or making games. I wonder if any member is currently working on a game? we need something ...

hmmm, good question. when I said the labs where free, I meant the IDEs for java or C# or C++. that should be enough for general game programing but wont help in case of Mobile programming or in making stuff with 3D max or Maya. ..... this issue I cant help in, the only option is to get a computer or ask a friend to use his computer. sorry

I wonder if any member is currently working on a game? we need something ... I think the GDC should announce a game project and group the members. The club should have at least one specified project, a 'plan' in other words. This is different than what member want to do by their own.
